The Ink Trail Story

Ink Trail Consulting emerged from a period of transformation. Becoming a parent, writing a book, and coming out shifted my perspective on what life could look like. Freelancing felt like part of the answer. The reality has been messier than that.

I've moved between freelance and full-time over the years, readjusting toward what makes sense for my life, my family, and my values. Through it all, I keep coming back to this: I love this work. The writing, the untangling of complicated processes, the moment something clicks. I bring a lot of focus and determination to it.

The name reflects that. Ink is the written word — the stories, articles, and content that carry a mission forward. Trail is the journey — the processes, systems, and winding path from idea to execution. Meaningful work rarely follows a straight line, nor does a meaningful life.

Right now, I’m enjoying projects at the intersection of health and publishing, and I’m always looking to do more work with queer and social justice organizations and writers. But mostly, if you’re building something you believe in and need a collaborator to help you get there, I’d love to hear what you’re working on to make the world a bit better.

My Approach

Curiosity

Every project is a chance to learn about your passion, your industry, and what matters to you. I ask questions and stay engaged because understanding your needs helps me do better work.

Clarity

Whether it's a sentence or a system, I believe in making things understandable. If it's confusing, I aim to simplify it. If it's stuck, I will help you move it forward.

I'm here to help. Whether it's polishing a draft, smoothing out a process, or taking something off your plate—I show up and do my best to make your work easier.

Also, An Award-Winning Author

Writing isn’t just my profession — it’s personal. Outside of Ink Trail Consulting, I’m also the author of Finding Sunlight, an award-winning memoir about breaking free from purity culture and a patriarchal family dynamic to find a more meaningful kind of love.

Writing that book and the experience of putting my own story into the world are a big part of what drives my passion for helping others find and shape their voices. It’s also why I care so deeply about authors, nonprofits, and mission-driven brands. You can explore my books, read the blog, and learn more about my personal writing at chrissyholm.com.
